A colourful and vibrant event not to miss.
The 2016 Chinatown Adelaide Lunar New Year Street Party is bound to be a vibrant, exuberant and festive event that invites all cultures and people to come and celebrate the arrival of the Asian New Year.
Presented by Chinatown Adelaide SA Inc., the Lunar New Year Street Party will usher in the Year of the Monkey through an exciting array of stalls, exhibitions, and entertainment from a variety of cultural groups representing Asian traditions of arts, crafts and food. Moonta Street (Chinatown) and Gouger Street, will be embellished to highlight the heritage and culture of this significant event.

It is expected to bring a great audience, as previous New Year Street Parties have filled the streets with more than 20,000 people. This is the 13th consecutive Lunar New Year Street Party in Adelaide. This successful event is celebrated by people in Singapore, Taiwan, Malaysia and Vietnam, and being a multicultural country, Australians are also known to get involved as it’s open to the general public.
The Lunar New Year Street Party highlight is said to be the Lion Dance, as well as key performances by talented multicultural singers, dancers and musicians from South Australia. It’s a fantastic way to showcase the community spirit within our state. The day runs from 12 pm – 10.30 pm, with a special program coordinated by its organisers to suit all ages. It’s a lovely excuse to head out for a night on the town, spend time with family, or to experience something unique, different and fun. Better yet, you’ll enjoy the lovely warm weather ahead in the streets of Adelaide’s beautiful city.
